When everything points to you, only the truth can set you free.

Daniel is away for work, staying in a hotel in Herne Bay. He sees no harm in having a little fun with the hotel receptionist Jess while he’s there. One day after returning to his room from dinner in the hotel restaurant, Daniel finds his wife’s dead body in his bathtub. In her hand is her mobile phone which has an incriminating text message on it which seems to have been sent from Daniels phone.

Two things are clear to Daniel at this moment. First, his wife has been murdered and second he is being framed for her murder. In that second Daniel decides to run, taking Jess with him. Can he escape whoever killed his wife and framed him whilst also trying to escape the police. Can Daniel clear his name?

When I read this blurb of this book, I thought it sounded really interesting. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I found Daniel to be the single most annoying and stupid character I have ever encountered. I can understand the instinct to run when faced with what he was faced with, however, to run away with the receptionist, a woman he was sleeping with behind his wife’s back. Apart from making himself look even more guilty. Jess could be anybody, he hardly knew her at all. Without giving away any spoilers. I knew who the killer was straight away and I could see all the trouble Daniel was going to get himself into.

All in all this book I found to be completely predictable and just rediculous. The only reason I finished it was to confirm I was correct in whom the killer was and I was. I have chosen to give this book a single star as I will not reread nor will I recommend this book. I found it to be badly written and too predictable.

Lottie Parker returns to catch a serial killer and find a missing girl.

Lottie Parker is back and this time she is on the trail of a serial killer with the help of her team Lottie treads the waters of sex trafficking, missing girls, murder and drug lords. All while trying to keep her family together and safe.

I got this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Well, Gibney has done it again. A fantastic read and another book have gone straight into my favourite category on my Kindle. I love Lottie Parker and her team. I cannot wait for the next book, so much so I have it on pre-order already.

I had no idea who the killer was and was completely surprised at the end which is what I love in a good mystery book, keeps you guessing right till the end and I think a great sign of a mystery book is when you can’t guess who the killer is.

I am desperately waiting for Lottie and Boyd to get together they would make such a great couple and the sexual chemistry between them is amazing.

All I can say about this book is wonderful and roll on book three. Five out of Five stars, truly well deserved.

Going home isn’t always a good idea.

Jenniffer has returned home to Guernsey and is living with her mother and working as a journalist whilst trying to escape her past. One night Jennifer takes her mother to the bonfire and firework display. This is the night the body was found on the beach.

I received a sample of this from NetGalley and I was really enjoying it, just as it was about to get really interesting the sample ended so needless to say I am going straight to preorder the book.

I’ve never read anything by Dearman before but if this sample is anything to go by I have high hopes. It is hard to rate a sample but given that this sample has got me hooked and heading straight to the Kindle store to preorder the book I am giving it four out of five stars.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I didn’t it very far in this book I must admit only about ten chapters. I found it didn’t grab me and entice me to read more and I just wasn’t enjoying it. So, unfortunately, I am unable to give a full review on this book.  I shall be giving this book a single star as I won’t be reading it again and won’t be recommending it. I found it very slow and rather boring.

The Child

The Child by Fiona Barton

Title: The Child

Author: Fiona Barton

Published: March 2018

Publisher: Corgi

Pages: 448

Price on Amazon: Paperback: £7.99 Kindle: £7.99

ISBN: 055272456

The stories have been hidden but the truth always comes out.

Kate Winters is a journalist and when the skeleton of a newborn baby is discovered after a house is demolished in a gentrifying section in London Kate jumps on the case, Setting out to uncover who the child is and to tell the story behind what happened. But as Kate goes house by house into the past she soon learns there is more to this story than she ever imagined.

Soon Kate finds herself the keeper of many secrets that could explode the lives of all those around her and involved in this case. What can she tell and who can she tell it to?

I got this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I have never read any of Barton’s other books before. I found this book to be a bit of a slow starter but once it got started my goodness, it kept me up all night reading. A fantastic read with some amazing twists, looking back on it now the slow start actually helped the book as it helped you get to know the characters really well so much so I actually wanted to reach into my Kindle and hug or slap the characters depending on where I was in the book.

I think Kate would make a great character to write a series of books about.

I shall definitely be recommending this book to people including my book club and it shall be going into my favourite category on my Kindle. I have chosen to give this book five stars.
